What we did
Twice named No1 in The Sunday Times Best Companies to Work For, the small business insurance broker Simply Business asked LiveWorkWell for support in motivating its people to take ownership of their own resilience and wellbeing — fostering a culture of meaningful engagement.
We presented a taster session to introduce mindfulness and explain how FirstBeat heart-rate variability (HRV) analysis tracks your personal stress and recovery. Each person wore a HRV monitor for three days, followed up by group or individual sessions to discuss the findings. They then completed a six-week mindfulness programme, with a final one-to-one coaching session to embed changes that would benefit them both personally and professionally.
What they said
‘Susan has been a fundamental part of our wellbeing journey as we strive to make Simply Business a trailblazer in employee health and wellbeing. Through Susan and the mindfulness programmes we have run throughout the business, we have been able to engage a wide range of colleagues and create a network of advocates for mindfulness. Susan’s credibility and track record has enabled us to challenge our perception of mindfulness from something fluffy and faddy to a necessary part of our ways of working. Using the HRV monitors has also given us valuable data on how we run our own lives. Working with Susan has driven positive change around how we run our meetings, manage our diaries and understand how to be resilient in this overwhelming, fast-paced world.’ – Head of coaching & wellbeing, Simply Business
On coaching: ‘Working with Susan has been instrumental in achieving the level of resilience I very much needed to cope with an executive promotion and a rapidly growing team. I’ve worked with coaches in the past but I have stayed with Susan because of her unique and simple mindfulness based approach which is backed up by both measurement and scientific study. Susan has been the calm but kindly-critical anchor in what has been a wild and chaotic journey for me. I now have the confidence to face the challenges that lie ahead with courage and curiosity. – Chief Information Security Officer, Simply Business
On training: ‘Much better at handling stress under fast-paced pressure and more aware of personal pitfalls.’ – Simply Business training participant
