What we did
With a brief to support the government’s legal team as they deal with complex challenges and unchartered territory in negotiating Brexit, LiveWorkWell held a half-day workshop on stress, resilience, wellbeing and mindfulness.
We presented another half-day workshop on resilience and mindfulness to a Government Legal Department team working at the Department for Transport, who were preparing for Brexit and delivering the government’s policy priorities to tight deadlines and in the face of competing interests, not to mention external pressures from their lives outside work.
What they said
This enjoyable course gave extremely valuable insight into a variety of means of maintaining composure, health and enjoyment, as well as increasing resilience in a busy work setting. Feedback given from staff was resoundingly positive, including: “Very relevant to improving our effectiveness! Very salutary for me personally too. We have had stressful time at home, and this helps to reset
Another said: “I’ve been to a few “resilience” sessions and this was the best. For me backing up what you ‘preach’ with statistical evidence is so great and sends the message home.” Susan is an excellent and engaging speaker.’
— Victoria Cobham, senior legal adviser, Government Legal Department team at Department for Transport
What will you take away from this sesssion? ‘Meditation as way strengthening resilience. The 3 priorities for the day tip. Noticing when I go into avoidance/depletion mode.’

‘I will be kinder to myself (it is human nature to do things like worry about criticism). I will take time to meditate and clean my mind. I really recognise the benefit of meditation now (I had a tension headache at the start after a morning of looking at my laptop and rushing through traffic. It was gone after the exercises!).’

‘Incredibly relevant – very thought provoking. Genuinely made me think about my outlook and approach to life.’
